Frederick Douglass High School Celebrates Student Achievement at 2026 “Visions of the Future” Ceremony
ATLANTA, GA — On Saturday, May 16, 2026, graduating seniors, families, educators, and community leaders gathered at Frederick Douglass High School for the highly anticipated 2026 Visions of the Future Ceremony — a celebration recognizing academic achievement, leadership, scholarship recipients, and the bright futures of Atlanta’s next generation of leaders.
Among the evening’s most celebrated students were the graduating seniors from the Turner Foundation for Community Advocacy’s YCAM Mentorship Program, who received significant recognition for their accomplishments throughout the school year. During the ceremony, YCAM seniors were presented with scholarship checks and community service cords in acknowledgment of their successful completion of all mentorship program requirements, leadership development milestones, and extensive community engagement efforts.
Each YCAM graduating senior individually earned 50 hours of community service while participating in projects focused on youth leadership, civic engagement, neighborhood advocacy, public speaking, college readiness, and community revitalization initiatives throughout Atlanta.
The ceremony highlighted the remarkable growth and impact these students have made both inside and outside the classroom. Throughout the academic year, YCAM participants engaged directly with leaders from city government, corporate partners, higher education institutions, and nonprofit organizations — gaining real-world leadership experience while advocating for meaningful change within their communities.
“This ceremony represented more than just graduation recognition — it was a celebration of resilience, leadership, and purpose,” said Dominic Turner, Founder and Executive Director of the Turner Foundation for Community Advocacy. “Watching our mentorship program seniors walk across the stage receiving scholarship awards and community service cords was an incredibly proud moment. These students have demonstrated what is possible when young people are empowered with mentorship, opportunity, and a platform to lead.”
The event also recognized graduating seniors across the Frederick Douglass High School community for their academic excellence, scholarship achievements, and commitment to preparing for future success in college, careers, and community leadership.
The Turner Foundation for Community Advocacy’s YCAM Mentorship Program continues to expand its impact by providing students with mentorship, leadership development, college and career readiness support, civic engagement opportunities, and access to scholarship and summer enrichment experiences. The program works collaboratively with schools, nonprofit organizations, corporate partners, and community stakeholders to help students develop into future leaders equipped to create positive change.
