SUMMARY:Turner Foundation for Community Advocacy Inaugural Awards Ceremony 
 and Silent Auction
DESCRIPTION:The students in the mentorship program will be awarded for thei
 r hard work and dedication to successfuly completing the 14-week mentorshi
 p program.\nThe students successfully identified a community problem they 
 wanted to bring attention\, awareness\, and resources to help solve and fr
 om that exercise they created a group problem statement focused on what im
 provements they want to see in their community regarding this issue and pr
 esented it at a live Neighborhood Planning Unit (NPU) meeting while succes
 sfully completing various coalition building exercises along the way.\nThe
  students were aided by leaders from Atlanta City Government\, non-profit 
 organizations\, and corporations that they aligned with to form their coal
 ition to assist them in addressing the community problem they identified. 
 The students accumulated a total of 30 community service hours each by the
  completion of the program that will be credited to their requirements for
  High School graduation and included in their college application resumes.
  As part of the requirement to successfully complete the mentorship progra
 m the students completed a college campus tour of Kennesaw State Universit
 y (KSU) as well.\nLastly\, the students successfully wrote end-of-program 
 essays to the next class of participants coming in to the program to let t
 hem know what they got out of the program\, how it impacted their lives\, 
 and and what to expect as new participants coming in to the program. These
  same students will return to the mentorship program as Leaders-in-trainin
 g (LIT) participants to help mentor the next class of students coming in t
 he new school year.
